See lemurs, chameleons and the rainforest’s wildlife followed by sipping panoramic views from Mont Passot. If you have just a day to explore Nosy Be, this tour is a great introduction to the island’s wildlife, scenery and culture.
The day is a mix of three of Nosy Be’s top attractions — the island’s villages and spice plantations, Lokobe Reserve rainforest (home to black lemurs and chameleons), and Mont Passot (the island’s highest viewpoint).
A thorough round‑up of Madagascar’s most famed island, this excursion incorporates everything from traditional canoe crossings and rainforest walks to panoramic views high over crater lakes and the Mozambique Channel.
The Experience
8:00 AM – Pick up from your hotel in Nosy Be.
The day starts with a drive across the island, through local villages and plantations of ylang‑ylang, vanilla, coffee, pepper and tropical fruit trees that has led Nosy Be to earn its name as “Perfume Island”.
The tour proceeds on to Ambatozavavy to then board a traditional canoe for the short crossing to Lokobe Reserve, Nosy Be’s only remaining primary rainforest.
Arrive and take a conducted walk of the forest to search for the black lemurs and plenty of chameleons, geckos and other endemic wildlife. Local guides are incredibly good at observing animals that blend in with the foliage.
Lunch is served after the canoe ride before we resume the tour of the island.
In the afternoon, explore more of Nosy Be’s villages, beaches and scenery before arriving to Mont Passot, which is the highest point of the island.
The summit delivers awe‑inspiring views over Nosy Be, its caldera lakes and the thousands of islands lining the Mozambique Channel.
Savor the views and take pictures, followed by a late afternoon return to your hotel.
